Les mutations du judaïsme tunisien après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, Claude Nataf

A la suite de la seconde guerre mondiale, le judaïsme tunisien a connu des mutations profondes au niveau des institutions communautaires, des courants idéologiques et de la formation même des individus. La Communauté, jusqu'alors divisée entre la communauté tunisienne regroupant les originaires des pays musulmans et la communauté portugaise les originaires des pays chrétiens, a été unifiée. Le courant idéologique prônant la naturalisation française et l'identification au modèle français disparaît du paysage communautaire tandis que le courant sioniste connaît un essor important et que d'autres Juifs se tournent vers le nationalisme tunisien ou l'internationalisme. La Communauté n'est plus isolée et participe au Congrès juif mondial tandis que des ouvres comme le JOINT, l'OSE et l'ORT étendent leur action en Tunisie. Apparaît en même temps la volonté de former un nouveau type de jeune Juif plus sportif, hébraïsant, mieux adapté à la vie moderne. Mais au delà de ces mutations, les deux courants traditionnels, ceux de l'Ordre et du Mouvement, subsistent dans la Communauté.

Following the Second World War, the Tunisian Judaism met with deep changes as regards the institutions of the Community, the ideologies and the training of the people. The Community, which up to that time was divided between the Tunisian community constituted of people coming from Muslim countries, and the Portuguese community constituted of people from Christian countries, was unified. The ideological trend which advocated the advantage of being granted the French citizenship and the identification to the French model disappears from the landscape whereas the Zionist trend undergoes an important expansion, while others Jews turn towards Tunisian nationalism or Internationalism. The Community is no longer isolated and participates to the Jewish World Congress, while organizations such as JOINT, OSE, ORT, extend their activities to Tunisia. At the same time the will appears to form a new type of Jewish youths, by athletic training, learning Hebrew, more adapted to modern life. But beyond these changes, the two main trends of Order and Movement, are still alive in the Community.
