Paul Démann fait parti des jeunes pères de Notre-Dame de Sion qui, au sortir de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, s'engagent à dépasser les cadres théologiques qui règlent toute pensée chrétienne sur Israël. S'attaquant ainsi aux fondements du philosémitisme catholique, Paul Démann a été l'artisan d'une réorientation de l'enseignement chrétien sur Israël. Insistant sur la parenté de foi qui unit chrétiens et Juifs, concevant la relation à Israël sous le signe du rapprochement, Paul Démann a permis d'inclure le peuple juif dans une vision du " peuple de Dieu " qui lui fasse justice.

Paul Démann is one of the young fathers of Our Lady of Sion, who, by the end of the second World War, undertake to surpass the plain theological frame which fixes up the Christian approach about the question of Israel. Tackling on the foundations of Catholic philo-Semitism, Paul Démann brought about a new trend of Christian teaching about Israel. Laying stress on the relationship in faith which brings together Christians and Jews, devising the link to Israel as the symbol of a movement which brings one another closer, Paul Démann strove to include the Jewish people in a vision of "the people of God" which could do it justice.
