Le début d’une grande alyah ? Les Juifs de France « montés » en Israël depuis 2000, par Jérémy Sebbane
The starting point of an important alyah ? About the Jews of France who have emigrated to Israel since 2000, by Jeremy Sebanne
With the upsurge of anti-Semitic actions in France and of the murderous conflicts in the Near East, linked with the second Intifida, the number of French migrants to Israel was definitely increased between 2000 and 2006. The reason for this increase in the number of departures may be the anxiety of the Jews of France worried by the unconcern of the French administration and Medias in front of the rise of anti-Jewish manifestations. But it cannot be overlooked that the Israeli administration and the Jewish Agency unceasingly encourage the greatest number possible of Jews to settle in Israel so as to overcome the demographic problems. Be it a chosen immigration or one due to fear, the migrants who idealized Israel feel disappointed because of the hardships of integration.
